The Compact Contact is the second iteration of this design, now featuring a heavy-duty enclosure for greater durability and sonic options as the entire enclosure picks up sound vibration.
Designed particularly to sit on a snare drum, the Compact Contact can be used as a stand-alone noisemaker or even placed amongst various household appliances such as washing machines to pick up their rhythmic sounds for sampling and experiments.
Simply set the device on the surface you wish to amplify and connect the device via a standard 1/4" guitar cable to an amplifier, audio interface, effect chain or recording device.
Featuring dual handwired Piezoelectric transducer pickups with a three-way rotary switch and 1/4" output. Three way switch selects between top pickup, bottom pickup and a third selection that mutes all signal for ease of use when playing live.
This is a passive device that requires no batteries or electricity to work.
Standard contact microphone low-impedance output designed to run through an amplifier or preamp pedal to boost the signal to taste. When switching pickups a small "pop" is to be expected ( simply turn down amplifier while switching to avoid this).
Metta makes a passive impedance transformer (Metta Transformer) and also a powered clean volume boost (Metta Energy Boost) that suit microphones excellently.
